Be There for Someone Else

Be There for Someone Else
Reach out with a helping hand

We've all gone through challenging times from time to time.  Right now I have friends and family going through yet another strict lockdown severely restricting business, events and family life.   Unduly tough times considering this was the devastating norm for almost half of 2020.

Do you have have friends going through tough times in a lockdown around the world or simply through their own tough personal times?  Let them know you are thinking of them .... even more than that,  give them a phone call that can easily serve to lift their spirit - take away some of the fear and give hope.  Stay connected and let them know to stand strong and that good times will return again.

I help heart-centred driven people like you think more about growing food and the idea that the gardens which surround us can be a place not only to grow food, beautiful blooms to feast our eyes on and a place to unwind from the sometimes crazy world which surrounds us.   If we grow a little in the garden, we learn a lot and grow in ourselves !   If all this growing sounds like you, well hello !  How about signing up for my blog today?

May The 4th Be With You

May The 4th Be With You
May the Force be with you - it's Star Wars Day!

Some days things go right and some days, well, not quite so!  Do you find that too?
As much as you've tried to set yourself up for success, some things you didn't see coming and have no chance of controlling get in the way.

For The love of a Bath

For The love of a Bath
Posts about relaxation and self-care always talk about taking a relaxing bath, particularly in the evening for a good night's sleep.  Fantastic advice, don't get me wrong BUT during the heat of summer a bath is the last thing I ever feel like doing ! How about you?

Baths for me are part of the luxury I savour in the winter months, summer, heck no!   With the turn of the seasons a little colder (as we've had a cyclone affecting our weather patterns this week), I opted for the first bath of the season.   I add a dash of shower gel and stir up to get those bubbles a-bubbling and of course for the relaxing aromatics, a couple of drops of my favourite essential oil.  Relax away !    If you are a connoisseur of baths or thinking of adding a bath when renovating, be sure to make it a spa bath, much higher up the relaxation scale than just a plain old bath.

In a conventional bath you'll get reasonable suds, but wow, when you have a spa bath and turn on those jets, just watch the bubbles rise right to the top of the bathtub. The bubble magic happens right before your very eyes as you inhale the aroma filling the bathroom.   Disappear amongst those fragrant bubbles and enjoy!     Bliss!

Turn all the jets to one end for a great foot massage and then revert to all the jets to the other end for a great burst of water across the neck and shoulders.  If you don't have a spa to hand, relax in that conventional bath anyway and dream.   Ah relaxation and why would you wait til the evening? Any time of day is wonderful for this self-care. One of the great things about the winter months.

Commute Time Possibilities

Working from home means the commute time is but just a few short steps away.  Ah but what did you do previously during your commute journey?  - read a book, stare out the bus window, stand all the way home on the train?  Since you no longer have this time waster nor need to endure the tedium, how about using that time productively as to what you might manage to do?

Sounds boring I know but one solution is a quick clean somewhere.  My commute time used to be about 30 minutes.  What can I do in 30 minutes?   Get stuck into a few jobs on my household list like run the washing machine, vacuum, clean the bathroom.  With 5 hours of my week not spent on "commuting" now I could schedule out the tasks that keep my working environment and home in good shape.  Other possibilities too beyond caring for the home, like caring for me.

For a week or two where I've done nothing but sit at the PC or these days, the sewing machine, making lockdown facemasks, the place has become a little untidy and not a lot of home care activity except in the kitchen.

How would that sound getting into a routine to help keep your living environment liveable?.  Remember, staying home is the new going out, so doesnt it make sense to have your living environment a great place to be ?

Out with the Clutter in the Kitchen

I spent a few months away from home during our pandemic lockdown.  On returning home my family had tidied my kitchen benches removing all the accumulated odds and ends clutter which lived there - it just seemed to have no other home. An absolute breeze to keep clean – my kitchen benches are now picture-perfect like any show home dream kitchen.  Why had I never
